Common rail

Common rail

D3, D4 and D6 feature electronically controlled common rail fuel injection, making it possible to control fuel injection in a way that is impossible with conventional systems.

The common rail control unit, controls the system via several parameters,e.g. throttle position, rpm, temperature, boost pressure. The high-pressure fuel pump feeds the rail with fuel at up to 1 600 bar.

In the rail, full fuel pressure is always available for the injectors. The injectors, which are operated with extreme precision by the electronic governing, feed the cylinders up to three times per stroke.
